Shiva, The Awakening & Krishna, The Essence of Life

1.

Shiva,The Awakening

Some experiences are but once in a lifetime,

Splendid, empowering, enough to last a lifetime!

I was on a journey of soul searching,

When I reached a path so enlightening;

A path leading to my consciousness,

A path of my third eye awakening!

A powerful vibration opened my two eyes,

It was a burst of energy between my two eyes;

While we see this world with our two eyes,

We see our inner most self with our third eye.

The sound of silence encompassed a voice within:

“I am pure, innocent as your newborn’s gaze,

I am blissful, to those caught in worldly maze;

I am one in all forms, ever present, I am Shiva,

My spirit has no form, my substance is Shiva,

I am lively, beautiful, my nature is Shiva.”

The waxing and waning of the moon symbolizing time,

Shiva, the tranquil, the eternal reality is beyond time!

Of the heavenly bodies, I admire the moon the most,

Yet, the crescent of the moon fascinates me the most!

The crescent of the moon adorning the forehead of Lord Shiva,

The crescent of the moon illuminating the path leading to Shiva,

Through my third eye and to my innermost self, that is Shiva!

With the awakening of the pure consciousness seated in my mind,

While enduring the all-pervasive consciousness seated in my soul,

I bow to Shiva, “Aum Namah Shivaya, Aum Namah Shivaya”!

* Lord Shiva- one of the principle deities in Hinduism, is the ‘Destroyer of evil’, God of meditation, yoga, time and dance

* “Aum Namah Shivaya”- This is a very powerful mantra dedicated to Lord Shiva, which means “Adoration to Shiva” or “I bow to Shiva”

2.

Krishna, The Essence of Life

A vivid memory as fresh as dew,

Lingers on as life’s colourful hue;

When He graciously entered our humble adobe,

Sculpted Beautifully, His charismatic smile I adored.

He is Krishna, Supreme God, the eight avatar of Lord Vishnu,

His flute plays eternal notes, peacock feather sways to renew!

Enthralled by His form, I was drawn to Him,

I found a perfect friend, a confidant in Him;

I smiled at Him, when I was over the moon,

I turned to Him, while soaking in gloom!

On the auspicious day when my son, my little Krishna was born,

Little did I realise, a spiritual enriching journey of my life began.

Never before did I celebrate festivals with so much élan,

Never before did I realize the significance of each hymn.

Asks my Krishna, “Why does He stand on His left leg, with His right bent?”

For the answer I turn to our Idol, Krishna the incumbent!

While there are endless interpretations, here is my narration:

“Left side of the body symbolizes qualities of the heart,

Right side of the body, qualities of the mind and intellect.”

Krishna tells me,

“When your ego to Me you surrender,

I bestow upon you tasks tough and tender,

For your selfless deeds Salvation I render!”

Questions we have in ample, when we ask life, “Why me?”

Answers are made simple, when we realize, “He chooses me!”

To The Bhagavad Gita*, credit the nobel laureates, the discovery of Atom,

To little Krishna, credits the noble devotee in me, realization of Aatma*!

Lord Krishna worshiped worldwide, preaches the science of life.

While my little Krishna, my joyride, teaches me the essence of life!

* Lord Krishna is the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu- The Supreme Being

* Bhagavad Gita often referred to as ‘The Gita- The Song of God’, is a 701-verse Hindu scripture that is a part of the Epic Mahabharata

* Aatma- Soul, Spirit, Pure consciousness
