TO THE MOON

The Moon manifesting the celestial adobe in the sky,

In all her glory and milky white purity!

Her radiance above all the stars,

Shining with elegance beyond description!

Be it the full moon blooming in all her beauty,

Or the Crescent of the moon,

Adorning the forehead of Lord Shiva,

The moon fascinates me with equal magnitude!

As I admire her beauty, I see not the form of Craters;

But the carving of a child, developing in a mother’s womb,

Symbolic of her feminity and the human mind!

As I gaze further at this profound form of Divinity,

I sense a vibrating effect on my mind!

Reminiscent of the demure sensitivity,

Of the third eye of ‘Rudra’;

The Moon makes me feel,

At one with the Universe!

Just then my son, my full moon, my little Krishna,

Reading my thoughts, walking alongside on the track,

Says, “Come Ma, let’s fly to the moon and back!”

*Lord Shiva is the Hindu deity, one of the three Gods of the Trinity.

*The moon is also symbolic of Lord Shiva.

*Rudra is another name for Lord Shiva.
