What will this poem of mine swirl?
What mystery will it unfurl?
All around magic and mystery
Intertwine, baffling us the while
Have you watched your finger move?
The perfection in every joint mystifies
So does the beautifully functioning heart
and brain and every other body part
each a bewildering entity, science apart
Every stream of science continues,
to discover and demystify the basics
Often times the depths too
But wonders never cease to astound
Scientists can’t always say ‘finito’
The brain works 24/7 - better
when we are asleep...
but it’s workings continue to shock
Analysts and counsellors
are often dumbfound at its volatility
As they strive to fathom and speculate
One minute it is all in perfect order
next, the mechanism we take
for granted, suddenly somersaults...
Depression has altered it to a fault
The chrysalis is puzzling too
Will it be a butterfly? Will it be a moth?
And buds... they are phenomenal
Petal by soft petal they open up
We remain agape at their splendour
Made up of atoms, we are but specs
in a miniscule dot that is our world
Yet the strangest of all mysteries to me
Is the colossal ego we humans carry;
And then question that there is no peace?
