Where have you been My Pretty Maid ….
Mystery and mayhem pockmark your frame.
Foreign climes, shores of sand, chasing tiddlers
Before a tide, washes away all cares and woes,
Windblown oceans saline-rich, whirlpools to ride.
Is this how you functioned upon life’s rip-tide?
Where have you come from My Pretty Maid ….
Since up in the boon-dock planking was shaved,
Contoured to fit watery life on high rollers
Braving capricious currents and dancing with fishes
Delving blue deeps, surfing towering tsunami,
Tossing aloft wingless screw-loose propellers.
What have you seen My Pretty Maid ….
Does Nessie exist in the locks of clear water?
Are submarines asleep in the beds of the sound?
Do gunships patrol icy Halibut blue-waters?
Has an octopus, a squid, a kraken caressed you?
Dolphin’s, whale’s, siren’s trilled to enthral you?
What will you do now My Pretty Maid ….
As up on your shockers you appear to remain
Forgotten, abandoned, rotted, falling to pieces.
A lifeline on the horizon - let me be your Captain?
Repair and restoration, time for a facelift most major
Motivation in shoals, lobster pots full of money.
This is what we will do My Pretty Maid ….
We will seek adventure on seven seas once more.
Sail into sunsets, unknown destinations to reconnoitre,
Tribes to meet, Darwinian birds and bees to charm
Make magic together, golden memories in the hold
Till time and Davy Jones call both of us home.
