Didja

Did you ever

cross the Nullarbor at night?

“Tell me….

DIDJA?

DIDJA?”

The stars all a-sparkle,

bright as a queen’s tiara,

bejewelled, bedazzling,

all ablaze with dazzling fire.

“Tell me….

DIDJA?

DIDJA?”

Your heart couldn’t help itself,

thundering in your ears

As though the spirits of a million years

bent down to greet you

Do you see them?

Do you hear them?

MOST of all,

did you FEEL them?

“Tell me….

DIDJA?

DIDJA?’

“Watched OUR spirits break free,

Didn’t we, dear one?

Freed from their cage,

free from other’s zoo….weren’t we love?

Weren’t we?”

“And way back when

our world together had barely begun spinning;

yes, way back then….

our first break-free

from mediocrity

happened.

You have to agree, the first and best, hey darling,

Of ALL the rest….

NEVER wanted it any other way,

“Tell me….

DIDJA?

DIDJA?”
