Ahh Grandma,
what big holes in your vocabulary
you secretly have.
No fault of yours, born in a faraway land.
But Grandma,
you MUST look inside a card,
and not be so besotted with the cute pic.
Laughing and remembering,
son's 5th birthday and your card
with the darling cartoon bluebird
perky grin, huge smiley eyes,
and the words,
MAY THE BLUE BIRD OF HAPPINESS
(and when the card opened),
CRAP ALL OVER YOUR BIRTHDAY CAKE.
Pardon?!?
Forever after, we only say ‘BLUEBIRD’
for the widest grins and sorely tickled funny bones.
A solid gold bluey of memories, this one!
