She lived in the lap of nature
a happy farmer , a rescuer, of animals and a lover of dogs.
A beautiful healthy life in the warmth of the Australian sun.
With her Viking partner
she lived with nature and it’s gifts.
Christine was a creative
person who loved to write.
Words for her were never out of sight.
Day and night
She would write.
Then one day like a bolt from the blue she confronted what she decided was small c.
She Christine was the big C!
and she coolly added the info in her bio.
The body was now in conflict with the courage of her soul
Refusing all conventional medicine
She chose the medicine
of courage
to fight the diabolic disease .
Her pen became her sword
Her ammunition the spirited word .
Poetry took flight and the muses flew around her in rings of gossamer wings.
“You are so brave,” her friends messaged.
She alone knew how brave she was.
“Ask me at midnight when the pain takes my breath away.”
She laughed merrily “Death be not proud” !
Some days she would tell us
about the loss of weight
and some days of her failing eye sight
but always of how much
she loved to write.
Her words of courage sprung from a magic spring
as she silently fought the enemy within.
Then one day she stood up
picked up her pen and walked across the dazzling rainbow chuckling,” I shall wait for you dear friends.
Till then I will frolic with my furry friends and write and write
in sight of the heavenly light.
