Roopali Sircar Gaur, Ph.D. is a poet, performer, writer, animal and social justice activist,
gardener, and recyclist. She served as Associate Professor of English, Delhi University and taught
Creative Writing at the Indira Gandhi National Open University. A widely published poet and writer,
she has been featured in peer-reviewed journals, and served on academic panels around the world.

Dr. Gaur's research interests lie in the field of gender, ageing, war, disability, and
post-colonial literature. Her book The Twice Colonised: Women in African Literature is a
seminal text on the subject. In 2020 and 2021, she co-edited in
All the Spaces-Diverse Voices in Global Women’s Poetry and Earth Fire Water Wind.

Her poetry, included in international anthologies published in the United States,
United Kingdom, Nepal, and India, is archived in the Stanford University Pandemic digital archives.

Dr. Gaur is also the co-founder of Saraswati E-zine for Literature and Arts, and Poetry Editor
of the AWS E-zine. She is a travel writer columnist for an e-journal called Different Truths.

As Founder Director of YUVATI,an organisation working for educational and
employment opportunities for girls and boys across India,she runs a special initiative
called Merga Kitab Ghar: The Backyard Book Club.
Dr. Roopali Gaur has travelled extensively and is passionate about
the welfare of military families. She lives in Meerut, India with her
retired military spouse and their three rescued dogs.
